Looking for something to give your loved ones that goes beyond the basic lotion, jewelry, candle ideas?
Want to give something that says, 'Hey, I know you've been stressed, life is tough sometimes, and while I can't win the lottery for you, I've got something better...a cathartic transformation from evil to divine!" (I know, how did I read your thoughts like that, eerie ain't it)
You're in luck! I've got the best DIY gift for you.
DIY Bath Salts with Essential oils.
Why is this so amazing you ask? Epson salts are a wonderful source of magnesium, which experts believe most of us have some level of deficiency in. Taking a bath with the salts absorbs the magnesium through the skin.
Learn more about the benefits of magnesium in my latest blog post here.
I also add Dead Sea salt in this recipe. This is a high quality salt that provides a more varied mineral content. It can support the balance of crucial minerals including calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and bromides.
The baking soda is an added touch to neutralize chemicals (mostly chlorine) and helps with mineral absorption (remember that magnesium).
Depending on which essential oils you choose to use, the benefits can vary from supporting relaxation and calming, promoting balance, clearing the mind, and uplifting the mood.
And we can't ignore the immense benefits a salt bath will have for relieving stress!
Seriously the most simple of all DIY projects.
- 2 cups Epson salt
- 1/3 cup sea salt
- 1/4 cup baking soda
- 20-30 drops essential oils
Some of my favorite essential oils blends include:
- 20 drops Lavender + 10 drops Bergamot
- 10 drops Lemon + 10 drops Rosemary
- 10 Drops Geranium + 20 Drops Lavender
Always remember to add a pretty bow (because presentation is key) and add in some dried lavender to add that extra fun beauty touch.
Disclaimer: the key to essential oils is their quality, and let me tell you all essential oils are not created equal. Be sure to use oils that are certified pure therapeutic grade. CONTACT ME if you want to know the oils I trust most and personally use for my family
